Types of excavators
There is an excavator available for every digging job. We have listed the most popular types offered on Mascus for you.

Crawler excavator: within this category the crawler excavator is at the top with the most used variants on offer. These excavators are equipped with caterpillar tracks; large, modular tires that make it easy to work on unpaved terrain.
Wheel excavator: these diggers are also called tire excavator. Transport to and from different locations is no obstacle for these mobile excavators. They are multifunctional, have great mobility and relatively low transport costs.
Mini excavator: these small all-rounders are indispensable for many jobs. Characteristic by the small size and turning circle, these excavators can be used in many (small) places and that damage to the subsoil or terrain is minimized. A mini excavator therefore weighs up to 7 tons.
Midi excavator: these construction machines are characterized by their weight and weigh between 7 and 12 tons. They are also called telehandlers or shovels. They have the characteristics of a mini excavator, but the digging and lifting capacities of some larger machines.
Other types of excavators are: demolition excavators, dragline excavators, amphibious excavators, long reach excavators, waste / industry handlers and front shovel excavators.

Caterpillar
The number 1 of the most popular brands is Caterpillar (Cat), which was founded in America in 1925. They are mainly engaged in the design and construction of heavy machinery for road, water and mining. Caterpillar's yellow machines are almost indispensable on a job site. Caterpillar Worktools & Services (CWTS) was founded in Den Bosch in 1998. CWTS designs and manufactures the equipment for excavators and wheel loaders, such as buckets, grapples and shears. There are currently over 8,000 Caterpillar excavators for sale on Mascus.

Komatsu
The Japanese Komatsu is in second place with almost 2,500 excavators currently. The company was founded in Komatsu, Japan in 1921. This international company is active in civil engineering. The headquarters in Europe is located in Vilvoorde, Belgium. In addition to crawler excavators, Komatsu also makes wheel and skid steer loaders, backhoe loaders and lifting tricks.

Volvo
Volvo's excavators are made by Volvo Construction Equipment (VCE) and, like the cars, is a Swedish manufacturer. It is a subsidiary of the Volvo Group. VCE makes about 150 different types of construction equipment, including wheel loaders and backhoe loaders. With more than 2,000 used excavators on offer, Volvo is in third place in this list.
